Greenest Packing

  • When possible we may reuse shipping materials. It is best environmental practice to reuse a box made of virgin trees rather than to buy a new box made from recycled content, ditto for packing materials. Shipping materials that already exist represent embodied energy. We don't double box or box at all if possible. Many apparal items are package in an envelope instead of a box.

  • For larger arrarel orders, if we can’t remove old tape or labels from a box, we turn it inside out. We then refold the box inside out.

  • If we can't re-use a box, we use the smallest box that fits your needs. Besides using less resources for the box itself, this also reduces the amount of materials required to protect the cargo.

  • Use old bubble wrap, packing peanuts, tissue paper, boxes, crumbled newspaper and magazine pages.

  • Run damaged or over-reused wrapping paper through the shredder for festive packing material.

Second Best Green Packing

  • We try to buy boxes with that are made from recycled fibers or from fibers sourced from managed forests.

  • We try to resist using plastic packaging. Bubble wrap and other plastic packaging are derived from petroleum. Although they are technically recyclable, not all municipalities accept their plastic type. Many municipalities only recycle plastic bottles.

  • If requried, we use biodegradable packing peanuts, which easily dissolve when exposed to water and leave no chemical residue. They can be reused or composted.

Gift Wrapping

 

  • If a gift is sellected as an option, we try to be green while still provide a very nice wrapping option.

  • We will use a nice box or bag made from recyled materials

  • Any addtional andornments we use in packaging are designed to be re-used. Examples we might include re-usable bag, ties, towels, a scarf, a bandana.

Shipping

  • Buy local. If possible, purchase products online from a store that’s located near your recipient to prevent the need for long-distance shipping. We offer local pick-up option.

  • Early order allows us to ship your packages so that you can sent by ground rather than air; ground shipping is more efficient than air freight.
